What is the difference between a SUP and a paddleboard?

There is no difference at all. SUP (Standup paddleboard) and Paddleboard are the same thing.

Are Inflatable Paddleboards good?

Yes, and they are popular than hard boards, because they are stable, making them a good option for both experienced and beginner paddleboarders. Inflatable boards are also comfortable, reducing fatigue to create an enjoyable paddling experience. In addition, these boards are durable and portable, making them a great choice for boarding fun for all.

Do you need to wear a lifejacket while paddleboarding?

Yes, Canadian law requires anyone paddleboarding to wear a lifejacket (personal flotation device). You can still have fun and be safe!

Is Paddleboarding a good workout?

YES! and it’s fun. It’s a full-body workout- but don’t worry you can take as many breaks as you want. Balancing on your board engages your core muscles constantly, strengthening your abs ,back, and improving your posture. The paddling motion works your arms, shoulders, and upper back while the stabilizing stance tones your legs. Where can I leave my valuables when paddleboarding?

You can bring your items or leave them in a safe place. We offer waterproof dry bags and cell phone cases for rent. Free lockers are also available at the nearby NCC Riverhouse to store your items while you enjoy your paddleboarding adventure in Ottawa.

Our original business—Location Escape with Paddleboard Rentals in Gatineau moved to Ottawa to better serve you at our convenient location at the River House in downtown Ottawa. Here, you can kayak, SUP (stand up paddleboard), or bike with Escape Rentals at this location.

We’ve been renting bikes and running tours in Ottawa for 11 years at Escape Bike Tours and Rentals.

Paddle down the Ottawa River past Gatineau-Ottawa’s most beautiful landmarks on a kayak or SUP (stand-up paddleboard). Or explore Gatineau Park’s rivers and lakes for a more extended adventure.

Alternatively, take to the trails with a bike rental and pedal through the city’s cool neighborhoods and landmarks. Enjoy some of the national region’s 800 km of bike paths.

It was a windy day, but we were given tips and tricks to make the most out of our hour kayaking and to stay safe.
